Julie Doiron

About a month ago after I saw City & Colour, I put a post up of vids from the concert & one of them was of Julie Doiron. I'm fiiinally getting around the putting up her latest album, I Can Wonder What You Did With Your Day. All day I've been into listening to really chill music a la Band of Horses & Interpol, and this album definitely fits in with that description. Enjoy compadres!

Jam Session

So lately I've been coming up with a whole bunch of ideas for just stuff in general, and I thought it might be interesting to start a club next year at Humber. Music related, of course, although I don't really have an idea in mind as to what we would do. Probably just discuss music, have little jam sessions for those of you that are musicians, maybe "field trips" to shows in Toronto aha. Who knows, just a thought. If you guys have any comments about the idea, shoot me a message down yonder where it says comments. Thanks kids! Oh & I finally got my Harmonica today! Score.

Today's tunage is random, which isn't unusual for this blog lately. Skindred is the band, and they're under the genre of reggae-metal. If that combo doesn't intrigue you, I really don't know what will! Good cruising-to-the-beach music. Best part is, I can actually dance to this.

1. Rat Race
2. Trouble
3. Nobody
4. Set It Off
5. Electric Avenue (Cover)

Glass Waves

After listening to Glass Waves' debut album (which caught my eye because it was free, of course!), I realized that at first listen I probably wouldn't take any interest in their music, because it's a little bit different compared to what I usually listen to. (This is ironic considering I listen to everything!) However I do love indie music, and these guys are certainly indie. They hail from St. Louis, Missouri and have sort of a laid-back quality to their music which intrigued me to listen more. I love how on some tracks it almost sounds as if you're sitting in a bar watching them play live. All in all, they broke the ice with me...or glass? Here's their debut album, appropriately entitled One Day We'll All Just Float Away.

1. The City
2. Take It In
3. To Last
4. Abbey
5. The Universe
6. Hey Nuclear
7. The Plague
8. Ashes
9. Virginia Tech
10. Glass Waves

Two Weeks of Pumas, Fire, and Hip-hop

Okeedoke, so these next three tunes have pretty much nothing in common, except for the fact that I like them. Just some newbies that I've heard recently. I'm lacking ideas for a cohesive post today, aaand I just want to share these, so let the games begin!

1. Good Luck At the Gun Fight - Puma
(A dance-y tune with a bit of a haunting quality to it)

Last.fm: Good Luck At the Gun Fight

2. Kasabian - Fire
(Like driving down Route 66 circa the 60's on a hot summer day)

3. Dead Prez vs. Grizzly Bear - Two Weeks of Hip Hop
(Mighty fine mash-up)

The Great Divide of an Ocean

So for you Humber kids that are reading this, you may or may not have met Jamie Riccotone while living in res. If you haven't, you're going to meet him through his music. I knew he was in a band called Oceans, but I never heard any of their music until this morning. They just came out with their debut album entitled The Great Divide, and lo and behold they have it up for free download. I just love it when bands do that, because you're more inclined to tell your friends about their music if they can get it fo' FREE. *ahem* sorry for the unforgivable quote. Anywho, I'm gunna quit rambling & just throw this album up for you guys so you can start listening to it already!

1. Bring Us Home
2. Find the Words
3. Martyr
4. Carrying Onwards
5. Slipping Backwards
6. Polygamist
7. A Call, An Answer
8. Define, Divide
9. To Its End
10. Left and Gone
11. Change the Old

One eskimO

You may not remember, but awhile back I did a post on some remixes and mash-ups. I received a comment on it regarding One eskimO, as I featured their song Givin' Up (Don Diablo remix). He let me know that right now on their website they're doing a whole free download deal, which includes some artwork, the Don Diablo remix, as well as a short clip from one of their recent performances. These guys hail from the UK, and their music is just very... chill. Not to mention a little cutesy & romantic, which is great for the girly fans out there. Anyshoes, I shall upload that song again to refresh your memory, and check out their Myspace if you want to download the whole zip file of goodies.

Let It Rain

Sorry for all the random one-song posts lately, I just haven't had time to upload a whole lot. But I am loving this song by Living Things; it kind of reminds me of a song that would be in some sort of romantic movie, and I feel as if it's a song from the soundtrack to my life every time I listen to it. Anywho, take a listen if you like :)

P.S. a big thank you to Nylon Blogs for introducing me to this song in a recent post!

Get Your A-Game On

Just a quick post today, because this song has been stuck in my head ever since I heard it yesterday! I saw this song by A-Game on MuchMusic yesterday, and even though the video is kinda sub-par, it had my head bobbing (please don't picture A Night at the Roxbury aha). A-Game are a duo of twin brothers, and this song has a T.I. type vibe going on. Nothing really new and exciting, but it's a really good summer cruisin' beat!
